The Avengers will return to the big screen in 2025, in two installments in Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret War. However, we still don’t know what the team’s lineup will look like in both films, as the team is no longer active in the MCU.
Figuring out the Avengers lineup in Avengers: Kang Dynasty is crucial, as the film is likely to be more about the team and the film’s villains and more akin to the first two Avengers films. While Avengers 5 may have some Easter eggs, these may save even more for Avengers: Secret Wars.
So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the ten heroes we think are the most likely to make up the Avengers of Kang Dynasty.
Warning: Spoilers for the MCU, all the way to the latest episode of She-Hulk: The Lawyer.
Captain America
The 10 most likely Avengers heroes in ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’

Sam Wilson was given the cape of Captain America in the finale of “Avengers: Endgame,” which audiences saw him wrestle with in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” However, Wilson appeared to accept that he would be the next hero to wear a shield in the show’s final episodes. Obviously, the next place Wilson will appear is in Captain America 4, Captain America: The New World Order, a movie that will show Sam Wilson in his star-studded glory.
There are several reasons why Captain America could be the Avengers in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, including the simple fact that Sam Wilson has already become an Avenger. There’s also an element that Captain America’s entire cape has to do with the word Avengers, and since Steve Rogers is called the First Avenger, it doesn’t have to end with Steve.
We’ll have to wait and see in the long run, and hopefully we’ll get a better idea of what’s next for Sam Wilson at the end of Captain America 4. Honestly, he’s one of the heroes more of a lock on the team.
Ant-Man and the Wasp
The 10 most likely Avengers heroes in ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’

Unfortunately, when it comes to this superhero team in the MCU, the heroes of the original Avengers comic book lineup, including Ant-Man and especially the Wasp, are overlooked. Ant-Man ended up being the official Avengers in Avengers: Endgame, albeit for a short time, and the Hornets weren’t part of the MCU team at all. Also, no, we’re not counting Avengers: Endgame’s final battle.
Still, it makes perfect sense to include at least one duo in the team’s lineup, in large part because the duo’s movie star is the villain of the upcoming Avengers movie. Kang will have at least a few scenes in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a storyline that will obviously affect the Kang dynasty.
Ant-Man and/or Wasp may be the ones who warned everyone about Kang’s threat to the multiverse, and thus are the ones needed to form this new Avengers. However, rumor has it that neither Ant-Man and the Wasp will survive the movie, especially since this is the end of their trilogy, so there’s a good chance we won’t see them both as part of the upcoming Avengers. member.
Thor

The fact that Thor is currently the only MCU superhero with more than a trilogy of movies cannot be ignored, as it means Marvel sees the value in heroes. Another point worth noting is that comics teams with multiple iterations tend to have at least one consistent member, and Thor is a great fit.
The only thing that makes an Asgardian hero a part of the team has to do with the character’s place after Thor: Love and Thunder, as it adds a new wrinkle to the character’s story. Thor now has an adopted daughter to deal with, which could ultimately rule him out of the team. But on the other hand, it might be a good story reason, as Thor might want to help the Avengers stop Kang in order to protect Love. He can always leave his love to the care of New Asgard for a while.
Hulk

If Marvel Studios wants to have a steady Avengers member, Bruce Banner is another option. Another reason why the Hulk is in Avengers: Kang Dynasty, though, is that unlike other heroes, he hasn’t had a leading role in a project since 2008. While this will be another project he won’t have as a protagonist, it will give the fan-favorite character something to do in addition to a cameo in someone else’s project.
Not having a Hulk-focused movie is a big deal, but it’s worth mentioning that that might change after the events of She-Hulk: The Attorney. Perhaps after seeing what’s next for the character, most likely on his cousin’s show, we won’t feel the need to include the Hulk in the Avengers lineup. However, without any real confirmation, there is currently no reason to keep him out of any possible lineup.
she-hulk

While She-Hulk’s show isn’t over yet, it’s clear that Marvel has big plans for the fan-favorite comic book character. This suggests that the superhero may have more adventures ahead, one of which is her becoming an Avenger in Avengers: Kang Dynasty.
The most significant evidence of her joining the team so far comes in the fifth episode of her series, in which she is called Avenger by her best friend Nikki. Her cousin and the Avengers also keep referring to her throughout the show, which means Marvel Studios may be paying off with a new iteration of her joining the team.
The only thing that makes her an Avenger is that she hasn’t embraced being a superhero on her own show, although admittedly that may change later in the series. We haven’t even officially seen her in her superhero garb, as it can only be seen through leaked photos.
Shang Zhi

There are several reasons for Shang-qi to join the upcoming lineup, and the first has to do with the director of Avengers 5. Shang-Chi and Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Crettin has been tapped to direct Avengers: Kang Dynasty. Crettin has proven to be an incredible MCU director, but the choice to have him at the helm of an Avengers movie would make more sense if Shang-Chi was also involved in the film.
Involving Shang-Chi in the upcoming Avengers lineup will also give his solo films a new sense of purpose. That’s not to say every MCU movie needs some grand purpose in itself, but it’s an element that seems to help the MCU have as long a lifespan as possible. This would be an option that would even allow people to watch Crettin’s film, who probably skipped Shang-Chi for the first time.
captain marvel

Captain Marvel might be one of the heroes most likely to join the Avengers in the upcoming movie. Carol Danvers was largely set up to join the team, and while she has done so, her time in Avengers: Endgame is unfortunately very brief.
Like Shang-Chi, Kang Dynasty’s director is Credding also makes Captain Marvel more likely to be part of the team. That’s because Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson seems to be good friends with Cretin, as the two have worked together in a plethora of movies. If you look at Crettin’s work, almost every one of his works includes Larson in some capacity. One factor may have led her to be one of the heroes in Shang-Chi’s end credit scene. While that’s certainly not the only reason, as Carol’s journey has been set up for her to join the Avengers in a larger capacity, it certainly helps explain why she’s a part of the Avengers.
war machine

As a hero as a minor member of the Avengers in the MCU so far, Gears of War remains a priority for Marvel Studios, making him an excellent candidate for the new Avengers team. Rhodey has been in several projects since Avengers: Endgame, as he has appeared in The Falcon and Bitter Winter and The Soldier, and will appear in Secret Invasion. Not to mention that he will get his own project through the Armored Wars series.
These projects are also worth noting, as they have been focused on the government side of Rhodey, which could be important for future Avengers teams. While it hasn’t really been mentioned recently, the Sokovia Accord may still cause some problems for the Avengers. This problem can easily be solved by involving senior members of the government on the team.
It would also be great to have Tony Stark’s best friend on the team so we can still have versions of Captain America and Iron Man in this new Avengers.
Black Panther
The 10 most likely Avengers heroes in ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’

Unfortunately, we won’t see T’Challa join the official Avengers roster, at least not for the foreseeable future. However, that doesn’t mean we’ll never see Black Panther join the superhero team, because in the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, we’ll undoubtedly have someone else taking over. While we haven’t got a confirmation yet, it’s likely that the next Black Panther will be T’Challa’s sister Shuri, especially considering that the comics have set that priority.
As for why we’re seeing someone playing the role of Black Panther in Avengers: Kang Dynasty, it would be a good time to correct the mistake of never listing T’Challa as a member of the group. Maybe not everyone wants to join Black Panther, but having a version of the character in the Avengers can mitigate some of the damage. Also, like Shang-Chi, it could provide a little push for the Black Panther franchise to tie into the Avengers franchise in a larger way, especially now that the MCU tragically no longer has Chadwick Boseman.
