Microsoft has released Xbox September Update Available for Xbox One and Series consoles, it has some very useful and handy features.

Xbox’s September Update lets you customize Xbox button colors on the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, organize with a complete library makeover, and enjoy new storage and default install options.

Dead Loop: Play it.

For the color of your Series 2 controller, you can choose from a variety of colors that combine red, blue and green LEDs to produce over 16 million shades of light. Nice choice.

To configure the button’s settings, open the Xbox Accessories app on your console or PC while the controller is connected, select an existing profile or create a new one, and select the Colors tab to see all color options. From here you can even change the brightness, use the menu slider to see all the color options or use hex codes to create the exact color you want. Just make sure the latest version of the Xbox Accessories app is installed with the September Xbox Update.

With a library makeover, it’s now easier to access games and apps on your Xbox One or Xbox Series console. This is because the My Games and Apps full library view has been redesigned so it now shows all the games you own and all the games you can access with your current subscription and claim to have Gold Games. You also have easy access to subscription catalogs, editorial content and all applications.

The update also allows you to choose different default storage locations for games and apps. To access it, in the storage device’s settings, select Change the installation location if you have an external drive or storage expansion card. You can choose a specific drive as the install location, or “let Xbox decide” where to install content to get the fastest drive available.

With an update, the Xbox Game Bar on PC now allows you to get a shareable link to any capture you want, allowing you to share via SMS, WhatsApp, Twitter, Messenger, and more. If your settings are set to public, anyone with your link will be able to see your shared captures. To capture while playing a game, press the Windows logo key + G on your keyboard to open the Xbox Game Bar. If you have an Xbox controller plugged into your PC, press the Xbox button. Then, click the copy link at the bottom of any selected game screenshot in the gallery, which will upload the screenshot and provide a shareable link.

Party chat noise suppression is now also available on Xbox One consoles and Windows 10/11 PCs. The Xbox Series X/S option announced last month is now rolling out to everyone else. With noise suppression enabled, you may notice fewer unwanted noises and distractions, as it helps eliminate noises like gamepad clicks, breathing, and background noise at parties.

There’s also a new “Start Party” button in the Xbox app. This means you no longer need to create a party from scratch every time. Just look for the Meetup option on the Social tab, see a list of recent meetups and start over from there – or simply create a new meetup by selecting friends to invite.

Finally, while not part of this update, last month’s update reportedly removed the one-time online check that occurred when sliding an Xbox One disc into an Xbox Series X console.

Apparently, Microsoft pulled the plug on older Xbox One games and opted for Smart Delivery discs. According to Ars Technica, Xbox’s engineering lead confirmed the removal was included in the August 2208 update. That said, backwards-compatible discs for consoles prior to the Xbox One still require online access and need to be downloaded on newer systems to play.
