Brett Goldstein, who won two Emmys for his role as AFC Richmond player Roy Kent, joked that it would be a way to bring his character’s on-screen feud with Jamie Tate into the Opportunities in the virtual world.
“I’m looking forward to beating my nephew in the game, I play Roy Kent and he plays Jamie Tate. He’s going to be pissed off,” the actor said.
The FIFA game was introduced by EA Sports in 1993. Most real-world football teams are available to players.
Sudeikis’ titular role will be chosen as manager of AFC Richmond, but other teams can also be selected.
Likewise, fans will be allowed to choose or create different managers to control AFC Richmond.
Well-known characters from the series, including Kent, Tate, Sam Obisanya and Danny Rojas, as well as Nelson Road, home of the AFC Richmond, will all be in the game.
