Conservative activist Virginia Thomas, wife of right-wing Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, has agreed to a voluntary interview with the committee on Jan. 6.

Ms Thomas’ lawyer, Mark Pauletta, said she was “eager to answer the committee’s questions to clarify any misunderstandings about her work related to the 2020 election.”

Ms Thomas reportedly contacted lawmakers in two crucial swing states, Arizona and Wisconsin, as part of Donald Trump’s attempt to stay in office after losing to Joe Biden in 2020, According to the Associated Press.

Emails and records show Ms Thomas allegedly participated in some aspects of Mr Trump’s “fake voter” scheme, which is currently under investigation.

She also reached out to Mr. Trump’s lawyer, John Eastman, about tactics to overturn the election result, According to NBC News.

“I can confirm that Ginni Thomas has agreed to participate in a voluntary interview with the committee,” Mr Pauletta told Reuters.

“As she has said from the outset, Mrs Thomas is eager to answer the committee’s questions to clear up any misunderstandings about her work in relation to the 2020 election.”

After the panel announced it would hold its next — and possibly last — public hearing on Sept. 28, she announced she would speak to the House committee investigating the pro-Trump violence.

It is unclear whether an interview with Ms Thomas will appear at the hearing.

The committee plans to complete its investigation by the end of 2022 and then write a final report on its findings into proof that Trump supporters attempted to illegally prevent Mr. Biden from winning legally.

Trump, who could run for the White House again in 2024, has repeatedly claimed he lost due to voter fraud, charges that have been repeatedly dismissed by courts across the country.
